Enzo Gianni Tchato Mbiayi is optimistic about playing international football for his father’s country, Cameroon.

Although he was born in France on November 23, 2022, the Montpellier defender has made known his intentions about representing Cameroon.

“Cameroon is a logical, natural, and emotional choice. All my family lives in Cameroon. It’s my goal and it will one day come to pass”, Enzo Tchato told the media.

Enzo Tchato’s father Bill Tchato played for Cameroon and he also played his club football for Montpellier just like his son Enzo.

To Enzo, it will be a dream come true for him to play in the Cameroon senior national team like his father.

“Just as my father played for the national team, it’s going to be a big heritage for me to do the same”, he added.

In January 2021, Enzo Tchato was called up to the Cameroon U20 national team for a training camp. Later in February, he participated in the 2021 Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Mauritania, where he helped Cameroon reach the quarter-finals. At the tournament, Tchato was one of the “revelations” of the Cameroon team.

Enzo Tchato made his professional debut for Montpellier on April 3, 2022, as a substitute in a 2#1 Ligue 1 defeat at home to Brest. He signed his first professional contract with the club in May 2022 and made his first league start in a 3#2 home victory over Troyes. On August 13, 2022, Enzo Tchato scored his first professional goal in a 5#2 league defeat away to Paris Saint-Germain.
