Elite two: Foncha Street dispatch 10-man Leopard

Foncha Street FC of Bamenda has beaten Leopard Sportive of Douala 3-1, in one of Day 22 fixtures of the Cameroon Elite two championship.

In the game played at the Bambili University stadium on Wednesday, John Njong, Cheson Loibihno, and substitute Herve Adiyi, were on target for the home side, as Achille Makone scored Leopard’s lone goal but was later sent off.

Foncha Street FC came into Wednesday’s game after previously beating league leaders Victoria United on game week 21.

A tough start to the game saw Cheson Loibihno, Bakado Carter and John Njong, leading the offensive for Foncha Street FC.

The curtain raise came 27 minutes into the game, when John Njong headed in a fine cross from Leinyuy Zukiply, to put the host in front.

A one goal lead advantage Foncha Street FC, sanctioned the first half as both sides returned to the change rooms.

Lloris Tenda and his teammates returned on the pitch with more energy and the results followed suit.

Kingsley Ashu Gah deep a cross into Leopard’s penalty area, which met the head of Cheson Loibihno, and went pass goalkeeper Eugene Nkoue of Leopard to put the host two goals up.

Leopard reacted quickly, but goalkeeper Lloris Tenda of Foncha Street made two stunning saves to deny Solomon Asaah.

Leopard won a corner kick from their continuous pressing, and it paid off when Achille Makone fired in from the edge of the box, after Foncha Street failed to properly clear their Zone.

Cheson Loibihno hit the upright with a fine long range effort, shortly before Ignatius Ojong was stretchered off the pitch, following a rough tackle from a Leopard player. Leopard’s lone goal scorer Achille Makone was shown red in the aftermath of the incident, as he verbally attacked referee Abdoul Razak.

Coach Mbabot Moses brought in Claude Mac to replaced the injured Ignatius Ojong, while Hubert Enow Egbe, came in to replace Atekwe Emmanuel.

For Leopard of Douala, Samuel Nkake and Hamadou Zapha was introduced for Joel Ndedi and Adolph Mouandjo respectively, with over a quarter of an hour left to play.

Foncha Street managed the game expertly, and still had more to offer offensively. Loibihno in a counter attack at the 88th minute, squad an inswing cross into the box, as substitute Herve Adiyi turn an acrobatic drive pass goalkeeper Eugene Nkoue to extend Foncha Street’s lead.

A 3-1 score line advantage Foncha Street FC, meant coach Mbabot Moses and his boys have now recorded back-to-back wins for the first time since the start of the second round of the championship.

Foncha Street FC will next play three home games, against Rangers FC of Bafut, Lausanne FA and Tonnerre Kalara club of Yaounde.
