  • Dynamo returns to the top-flight championship after over 20 years in the cold.
  • Yves Clement Arroga and his bunch of new players have a tough opener

Dynamo of Douala have a daunting task this Wednesday when they welcome Elite One regulars AS Fortuna on their return to the top-flight championship for the first time in over 20 years.

Big spenders Dynamo have been asked to resume life in the big time against a gritty Fortuna side that has proved its worth over the years and caused some upsets.

Dynamo had arguably the busiest transfer window, changing over 90% of the squad that helped them achieve promotion in addition to the decision to hire Yves Clement Arroga as their new head coach.

The acquisition of PWD of Bamenda trio Etta Bawak, Leonel Ateba and Moluh Mohamed added to the arrival of Anye Derick from Maritzburg United, Raymond Fotso from Stade Renard, Junior Kemajou who joined from Bamboutos FC as one of the best scorers in the past three seasons in the Elite One championship. This among others makes them a serious proposition for any opponent this season, including Fortuna.

Fortuna themselves are not lacking in quality. The likes of Yuh Moses and Zacharie Ndongo Foe form a bunch of talented players capable of putting any opponent to the sword on their day.

This Wednesday’s 2PM at the contest at the Reunification stadium will be a moment of history as both sides clash for the first time in a FECAFOOT organized competition – Dynamo last participated in the top-flight when Fortuna was not in existence.

Some have qualified this game as a meeting between the glamorous newcomers and the resilient ‘old broom’ that will always find a way to clean the house better.

Fans of the yellow and black of Douala will turn out in their hundred to live history as their club kicks a first ball in the top-flight in the lifetime of the present generation.

Players to watch

Cotonsport and UMS of Loum legend Etta Thomas Bawak, Elite One winner with Cotonsport – Anye Derick and Joseph Momasso previously of UMS of Loum as well as Frank Djaleu will constitute some of the Dynamo stars on show against Ndongo Foe and dead ball specialist Yuh Moses of Fortuna.

The 4pm kick-off in Douala will certainly attract the interest of football fanatics as well as supporters of both sides.
