Cameroon’s judo team has achieved remarkable success at the 2024 African Junior Cup in Dakar, Senegal, with two athletes winning gold medals. Kom Teddy Enzy triumphed in the -73kg category, and Ngueya Naheu Vladimir Carlos excelled in the -90kg category on November 21, 2024.
The Cameroonian delegation, which departed for Dakar a day prior to the competition, started strong and is optimistic about securing additional podium finishes as the tournament continues until November 24. The team is led by Kamsu Kom Tekam, Secretary General of FECAJUDO, and consists of eight athletes and two coaches.
In the men’s categories, Kom Teddy Enzy competes in the -73kg division, while Ngueya Naheu Vladimir Carlos represents Cameroon in the -90kg category. They are joined by Tahman Zan Franck Ulrich in the -100kg division and Mepoui Anong Daniel in the +100kg category.
On the women’s side, Cameroon’s representation includes Baba Matia Marie Céline in the -52kg division, Etoua Biock Audrey Jeannette in the -63kg category, Biami Zita Ornella in the -70kg division, and Djengue Moune Georgika Wesly competing in the -78kg category.
The team has shown great promise and determination, aiming to make a significant impact at this competition. Their aspirations extend beyond individual success; they seek to elevate Cameroonian judo’s status on the continental stage.
The competition is organized by the African Judo Union (AJU) and features athletes from ten countries, with a total of 57 competitors across various weight categories for both men and women.
As the tournament progresses into the weekend, senior men and women will compete on November 23 and 24, 2024.
