French Ligue 1 club FC Lorient have completed the signing of 18-year-old Cameroonian midfielder Arthur Avom Ebong from Fauve Azur Elite.
The Intermediate and U-20 Lions midfielder sensation picked Lorient on Saturday after weeks of negotiations with the 2002 French Cup winners and a number of other clubs.
This transfer brings an end to Avom’s two-and-half year stay on the books of Fauve Azur with whom he played 72 games in all competitions.
The switch makes him the second Cameroonian to be on the books of the club, joining Darling Zidan Yongwa.
Avom was part of the Cameroon team that participated in the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and also participated in the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament in Algeria.
Avom put up an amazing performance in the opening game of the CHAN against Congo, attracting interest from multiple clubs.
He will move straight into the Lorient first team to be guided by coach Régis Le Bris during the preparations for the 2023/24 season.
