Dja Sports seals Guinness Super League spot after 5-3 win against Lion du Sahel

Dja Sports Academy of Meyomessala have sealed a spot in the 2024 Guinness Super League championship, following a 5-3 win against an exciting Lion du Sahel side in the semi-final of the Guinness Super League promotion playoff this Sunday, at the Omnisport stadium in Yaounde.

Kopdepa Asta scored a hat-trick for the Northerners, benefitting from three howlers from Tatiana Noubeu in goal for Dja while Rosine Nicase Nga, Morgan Nyangali, Clara Mayi, Louise Wehiong, Audrey Beyiha were the scorers for the winners.

The early moments of the game was in walking pace. However, against the run of play, Sahel FA took the lead after seven minutes.

Audrey Beyiha forced a fine save off Diana Blanco with a close range effort as Dja Sports Academy Meyomessala for the equalizer. It didn’t take long before they were rewarded for their push when a long range effort from Nga hit the woodwork before bouncing off behind the goal line.

Kopdepa restored the advantage almost immediately after Noubeu lost her bearings for the second time in 22 minutes.

Sahel went to the break with the slight advantage but there was more to play for in the second segment.

Lion du Sahel

Substitute Morgan Nyangali restored parity 12 minutes into the second segment, heading home an inch-perfect ball from a corner.

Kopdepa restored Lion du Sahel’s advantage at the hour mark, completing a hat-trick in the goal-rush semi-final game.

The lead didn’t last as Dja Sports equalized again through another through Clara Mayi, who scored from her first touch climbing off the bench.

Dja Sports won it in the final quarter hour through Louise Wehiong who put the ball past Diana Blanco for the fourth time in the afternoon to make it 4-3.

Beyiha put the icing on the cake when he scored Dja Sports’ final goal in added time to make it 5-3 for coach Emmanuel Eteme’s girls.

The game ended in favor of the South Region outfit, securing a deserved spot in the Guinness Super League championship as a second outfit from the region after FC Ebolowa of two years ago.
