- The team’s chairman of the board of directors, Bingi Luison Leonel, has formally requested the Cameroon football federation to defer their day five playoff to Tuesday.
- Â This request follows a series of misfortunes, including players being evicted from hotels due to unpaid bills, reflecting the club’s ongoing administrative and financial struggles.
In an unprecedented turn of events, Leopard Sportif of Douala, a team already grappling with financial instability, did not show up for their crucial playoff game this Sunday against AS FAP.
Scheduled for the Mbouda Arena, only AS FAP was present with no sign of players but for a few administrative members of Leopard.
The dire state of affairs was reported in a communique sent out by the club prior to the game. According to them players have vacated their base two days ago due to unpaid salaries and other unrespected financial obligations . There has been no signs of return, leaving the team in disarray.
The situation is still to be resolved as the president of the administrative council has reached out to the general secretary of the Cameroon football federation, seeking a respite by postponing the match against AS FAP from Sunday to Tuesday.
The communique reads;
“We, Leopard Sportif of Douala, playing in the PLAY OFF DOWN MTN elite Two, have the honor of coming to your distinguished personality to request a rescheduling of our match of the 5th day.
Due to non-payment of salaries and financial charges, our players had to leave the competition site for Douala for security reasons.”
Informed of the situation, the necessary and urgent measures are underway so that the team can continue the rest of the competition in complete safety.
“To this end, we wish to play our meeting of the 5 day next Tuesday at your convenience.
“Hoping that our request will attract your attention, I ask you to accept the expression of our highest consideration.”
This situation comes on the heels of the players’ eviction from their hotels over non-payment issues, a stark reminder of the club’s recent administrative and financial challenges.
With only one victory in the season and no wins in the relegation playoffs, Leopard Sportive’s future hangs in the balance as they navigate through these turbulent times.
