Chioma Wogu shines as Simba Queens hold Yanga Princess in Kariakoo derby

Simba Queens forced visitors, Yanga Princess to a 1-1 draw on Thursday in the latest Tanzanian Serengeti Lite Women’s Premier League encounter.

Both sides occupy the fifth and sixth positions respectively ahead of the match week three encounter at the Benjamin Mpaka, Far Es Salam.

Nigeria’s Chioma Wogu Success scored the first goal of the Kariakoo derby in the additional minutes of the first half to give the visitors the lead.

After the interval, Vivian Aquino equalised for Charles Lukula’s side in the 54th minute to even the scoreline with an attempt outside the box as Yanga Princess’s goalkeeper was off her line.

The game showcased Nigerian players in the Tanzania Women’s Premier League.

Chioma Wogu who scored for Yanga Princess saw 64 minutes of action before she was replaced by former Nasarawa Amazons player, Precious Christopher.

Another Nigerian player, Olaiya Barakat replaced Aisha Juma in the 66th minute.

Opa Clement saw she had given Simba Queens the lead in the 70th minute but her goal was ruled out for an offside.

Seven minutes later, former Ibom Angels and Sunshine Queens player, Blessing Nkor received a yellow card before replacing Tessy Biawo in the 84th minute.

Mary Saiki Atinuke also featured for Yanga Princess.

League holders, Simba Queens occupy the fifth position after the draw with four points after three games, five points behind current league leaders, Fountain Gate Princess.

Yanga Princess with four points after three games occupy the sixth position.
