CECAFA U-18 W Championship: Uganda Thrash Burundi to go top

Uganda outsmarted Burundi in a 7-0 victory to make it 3 wins in as many games on Tuesday evening.

A goals galore at Azam complex with relentless Uganda baptising Burundi in a must win encounter.

Agness Nabukenya opened the scoring 5 minutes into the game to give Uganda an early lead.

Later half an hour played , forward Kamiyat netted her first goal of the campaign to extend the lead.

The first stanza ended 2-0 in favour of Uganda.

Twelve seconds into the second stanza , Kamiyat added another to make it a brace.

Goals continued to rain with strikes from Phionah Nabulime , Allen Nassazi and Shamusa who also had a brace on the evening.

Burundi had an opportunity to reduce the deficit but Rukiya Bizimana put the penalty wide as Uganda are yet to concede a goal.

The win saw Ayub’s side reclaim the top spot ahead of Hosts Tanzania with a better goal difference.

Uganda play Tanzania in the final game with all teams tied on 9 points.

The championship in a round robin format as the team with most points at the end will emerge winners of the inaugural edition.
