If there is anything more deserving than the player of the tournament award other than the trophy, Isle of Hope Sports Academy’s Albert Tiku Egbe would have surely grabbed that.
The prolific striker was named player of the just ended National Interpools and equally finished the competition as highest goal scorer with five goals, two away from the second scorer.
Many saw this coming and could tell he was deserving of his. The awards were incontestable. At one point in time, ISOHSA’s captain Ashu Brice looked to contest that with the striker following his incredible performance but Tiku also had to his advantage, the most goals scored.
Tiku, 19, has been a driving force before ISOHSA’s success from the league to gaining promotion to the secondtier championship. Infact, he scored the two goals that fetch the club an Elite two ticket during the semis against Pouma FC last Thursday.
He equally opened scores in their 2-0 win against Bafmeng United on Sunday, July 30, to help his side clinch the trophy.
On every one’s lips in the past two weeks and even more since their qualification as Southwest regional champion, Tiku unarguably recorded the best individual performance in this competition and visibly played an instrumental role in the club’s very best achievement so far since their existence.
He finished the regional league season as best player and Man of the Match of the final against Kumba City, so in just one season, the lad has been one of the most successful players in the amateur leagues in Cameroon combined.
Tiku has not just earned the love and admiration of the football loving population who watched him play these competitions, but has equally caught the attention of some foreign agents who seem interested in him. Only ISOHSA has the final say on whether they will let him go just yet.
