Ethiopia finally got off the mark at the ongoing maiden CECAFA U-18 Women’s Championship with a 2-0 victory over Burundi on Sunday evening.

Emush Daniel opened the scoring half an hour into the game and Ethiopia’s first goal in the competition.

Few minutes into the second stanza , Daniel added another to extend the lead.

Burundi had an opportunity earlier missed after they failed to convert a penalty.

The win saw Ethiopia recover from the poor start after two narrow defeats to Uganda and hosts Tanzania.

In the other fixture at Azam complex , the Hosts pipped Zanzibar 1-0 to record their third consecutive win.

Inform Aisha Juma scored the all important goal after a haul from the goalkeeper to take her tally to three goals.

Tanzania now boost a chance to clinch the championship with their final game against Uganda.

Uganda play Burundi next month on match day four.
