The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has issued an official disclaimer distancing itself from a fake ruling that has been widely circulated on social media regarding the AFCON 2025 final dispute between the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).

The fabricated document, designed to resemble an official CAS arbitral award, falsely claimed that CAS had ruled in favour of Senegal, overturned the result of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2025 final, and declared the Senegal men’s national team champions.

The fake ruling, dated 10 June 2026 under case number CAS 2026/A/10857, also alleged that CAF had been ordered to immediately implement the decision.

However, CAS has confirmed that the document is entirely false.

In a statement sent by CAS Communication Officer Vanessa Tracey, the Lausanne-based court said it was aware of the misinformation circulating concerning the case CAS 2026/A/12295 – Fédération Sénégalaise de Football (FSF) v. Confederation of African Football (CAF) & Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF).

“The CAS is aware of the false information circulating concerning the procedure: CAS 2026/A/12295 Fédération Sénégalaise de Football (FSF) v. Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) & Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF).”

The statement further clarified that no judgment has been delivered.

“No official decision has been rendered to date and the proceedings are still ongoing.”

CAS also urged the public, media organisations and football stakeholders to rely exclusively on its official communication channels for updates regarding the arbitration.

The disclaimer comes after the fake document spread rapidly across social media platforms, leading to confusion among football fans and prompting reactions before its authenticity could be verified.

As it stands, the arbitration involving the Senegalese Football Federation, CAF and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation remains pending, with CAS yet to announce a final ruling.
