Celebrated Cameroonian women Referee Atezambong Fomo Carine is in the team of officials for the first-leg 2022/23 CAF Champions League final scheduled this Sunday at the Cairo international stadium.

Carine who only returned from the U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) last week has been appointed Assistant Video Assistant Referee (VAR) of the clash, joining a team of fine match officials for the task.

Libyan duo Mutaz Ibrahim Attia Essa Amsaed are Referee and first assistant respectively. They’re joined by Khalil Hassani from Tunisia as the second assistant Referee while Allaou Mahamat from Chad is the fourth official.

Haythem Guitat from Tunisia is the VAR alongside Algeria’s Moustapha Ghorbal and Atezambong as first and second assistant respectively.

Atezambong played five games at last month’s U17 AFCON in Algeria, including the final, thus making this her fourth CAF competitions final as a Referee.

The native of the West Region of Cameroon will add huge experience to the team of match officials, having participated in up to nine FIFA/CAF tournaments so far.

Record winners Al Ahly who have been very strong at home are expected to take advantage of their home form to make a strong statement ahead of the second-leg game scheduled next week at the home of holders in Casablanca.
