Authentic Ladies returned to winning ways on Friday with a crucial 1-0 victory over Vision FA in a Guinness Super League matchday 16 fixture at the Stade de Bonamoussadi.

The encounter also marked the return of captain Fukuin Odette Chahkes, who missed Authentic’s previous outing — a goalless draw against reigning champions Lekie Filles.

Her return appeared to provide a timely boost for the side, which had gone three matches without tasting victory prior to Friday’s clash.

Determined to end that run, Authentic started brightly and found the breakthrough in the 17th minute through Ngassa, whose goal proved decisive in the tightly contested encounter.

After taking the lead, Authentic showed discipline and composure to protect their advantage against a Vision FA side that pushed for an equaliser, especially after making several second-half substitutions.

The match was not short on intensity, with multiple yellow cards issued. Vision’s Elele was booked in the 12th minute, followed by Tazanou in the 55th minute. Authentic’s Youngai was cautioned in the 57th minute, while returning captain Chahkes, wearing jersey number 12, also entered the referee’s book in the 66th minute. Vision’s Ngo Belia was another player shown yellow.

Vision made a series of tactical switches in search of a comeback, introducing Souop, Tazanou, Asako, Tuachamo and Mvogo in the second half. Authentic also rotated their squad, bringing on Eyong and Issa to maintain freshness and defensive balance.

Ultimately, Ngassa’s first-half effort separated the two teams and handed Authentic all three points.

Beyond the result, the return of captain Chahkes was another major positive for Authentic, especially after her absence was felt in the previous round against holders Lekie Filles.

With their skipper back and a long-awaited win secured, Authentic will hope this result marks a turning point as the Guinness Super League season enters its decisive phase.
