Cameroonian featherweight Octave Ayinda is ready to make his mark at the PFL Africa semifinals in Kigali, one of the biggest MMA events ever held in East Africa. With five Cameroonians among 22 fighters, Ayinda joins Maxwell Nana, Emilios Dassi, Alain Majorique, and Emmanuel Mukam in the hunt for a spot in the finals in Benin this December, where the continent’s first PFL champions will be crowned.

Balancing years of university studies with intense training, Ayinda made the tough decision to pursue MMA full-time. Inspired by Francis Ngannou, who will be in Kigali for the event, Ayinda says: “Bringing PFL to Africa gives us the chance to showcase our talent to the world.”

With confidence and focus, he is ready for his semifinal bout. “I studied my opponent. I am very confident. It’s going to be a crazy fight — but I’ll kill him for sure,” he says.

The Kigali card features 11 high-stakes fights, with athletes from across Africa showcasing their skills. Beyond Ayinda, the semifinals spotlight emerging talent nurtured through initiatives like the Francis Ngannou Foundation, highlighting the growing infrastructure supporting MMA on the continent. For fans, it promises a thrilling display of speed, power, and strategy.

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) is a global powerhouse in MMA, known for its “win and advance” tournament format. Broadcast live to 190 countries and backed by major investors, PFL offers African fighters a stage to compete at the highest level while exposing their talents to a worldwide audience. For Ayinda and his compatriots, Kigali is more than a fight — it’s a chance to write history and showcase the rise of African MMA.
