  • Union Sportif of Douala are seeking a new president following the resignation of Polycarpe Kenmogne
  • The outgoing president informed the board chair of the club of his decision since March 14
  • Union Sportif is currently in the relegation dog flight in the MTN Elite One championship

Kenmogne Polycarpe has stepped down from his position as the president of Union Sportif of Douala citing financial constraints amongst other complains.

President Polycarpe who took the helm of the club’s administration just over three years ago after long-serving president Frank Happy resigned to join the current team of the Cameroon football federation, but has discontinued the engagement, thus leaving the club looking for a new president.

In a letter kick442.com recently stumbled on, the outgoing president announced his move, thank the fans and wished the club the best going forward.

“I have the honour to come before you to inform you that due to financial constraints and other personal engagements, I will not be able to keep my role as the president of Union Sportif of Douala.

“For many years I have made huge efforts in financial, intellectual and physical terms to impact the life of our club which has had a tool on my health today. On that and looking at the uncertainty facing our football environment in our country at the moment am stopping my engagement with the despite the efforts we had put in place to modernize the club.

“I count on your comprehension and extend my profound respect,” the letterhead to the board chair of the club read.

Union Sportif of Douala suffered their ninth defeat in 15 matches this Sunday and are deep in the relegation zone midway into this marathon season in which five clubs will be relegated to the MTN Elite Two championship.

The Nasara Gamakai and winners of the MTN Elite One championship in 2012 have never been relegated but the way things are going this season, Mbeleck Junior and co need something special to retain their top-flight status as on and off pitch issues multiply with every passing day.

They travel to Garoua next weekend for a showdown against high-flying and second-placed Gazelle, before returning to face Fortuna that beat Cotonsport this weekend and current leaders Colombe of Dja and Lobo.
