Former Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) interim Secretary General Nicolas Parfait Siki Awono appeared in court on Thursday, April 13 to answer charges levied against him by the institution’s current management.

The erstwhile Communications Director and interim Secretary General of the federation has been incarcerated since November 2022. He is accused of keeping FECAFOOT ‘elections documents’ related to the events that brought Samuel Eto’o to power in December 2021.

Parfait has spent the last five months at the Kodengui maximum prison in Yaounde, though he has denied any wrongdoing.

Some sources have it that the reports of the election of FECAFOOT vice presidents which Parfait is accused of keeping are non-existent. These sources argue that the election of persons for the said role didn’t even happen.

Parfait’s legal team applied for bail before his latest court appearance, but the legal crew in charge of the file turned down the request.

Parfait, a journalist with a number of media organs before, during and after his time at FECAFOOT will remain in detention and appear in court again on April 27.
