Cameroon has defeated the Congo republic to emerge 2024 UNIFFAC U20 women’s cup champions this Wednesday, February 14 – at the Reunification stadium, Douala.

Overwhelming favorites, Cameroon, sent Congo to the wayside with a 3-0 defeat.

Hassan Balla’s charges opened the scoring at the 14th minute through Authentic Ladies forward, Kiki Meva.

It was Meva’s first game of the competition, but she recorded a fine performance, backed by a goal to her account.

Another player who started against CAR from the bench but made the difference having been given the gaffer’s confidence, was Simmi Manuela.

Manuela doubled Cameroon’s lead 4 minutes to the half hour mark, on what has now become classic Hassan Balla; picking opponents apart in the earlier exchanges.

At 2-0, coach Mbemba Berjona just seemed to run out of options and the junior lionesses piled on the misery.

It was yet another Authentic ladies forward, Ngo Billong, who put the game out of reach for the Congolese who were nowhere close to their best on the afternoon.

Ngo Billong was another player thrown into the fray having missed out on the first game day.

Cameroon hence clinched the trophy. The meeting between Congo and the Central African Republic will be a dead rubber game, with non of those teams capable of catching Cameroon’s points tally.

Trophy presentation and individual accolades shall be presented Thursday, February 15 by the the Central African Football Federations’ Union.

Cameroon are the first winners upon resumption of the competition. The last team that won was Equatorial Guinea, three years ago.
