- Victoria United’s President, Valentine Nkwain confronted match officials after a 1-1 draw against Dynamo Douala, expressing dissatisfaction with the officiating
- This incident follows a similar occurrence after a previous loss to Fauve Azur, raising concerns about the intimidation of referees
- He has now been banned from all football related activities and fined heavily for the second time in less than two years
The controversial president of Victoria United FC of Limbe, Nkwain Valentine has been banned from all football related activities for the rest of the current season, plus fined 10 millions FCFA for his ‘show of shame’ staged when his side played a 1-1 to Dynamo of Douala in Limbe.
For starters, after the final whistle, Nkwain, visibly incensed by the refereeing decisions, intercepted the officials as they attempted to leave the pitch. Despite their efforts to exit, he continued to engage them in a heated discussion while threatening them. Alarmingly, there was no security presence to diffuse the situation.
This confrontation is not an isolated event; it marks the second occasion in which Nkwain has halted referees to air grievances about officiating. Another incident occurred after Victoria United’s narrow 2-1 defeat to Fauve Azur on January 5, 2025.
Such behavior raises red flags regarding the matchday environment surrounding his team, potentially instilling fear in officials and creating a hostile atmosphere.
The homologation and disciplinary panel of FECAFOOT has officially slammed a 10-millions FCFA ban on the controversial official, plus banned him from all football related activities which will see him miss 16 matches.
The sanctions published this Thursday evening comes at time Nkwain is under investigation for assaulting and illegally detaining Parfait Djomeni and two other players on accusations that they had be colluded to sell matches.
Last year, Nkwain was also banned for stopping a League game after he adjudged officials were not ruling in favour of his club.
For the recent decision, he reserves the right to appeal it within the next five days.
