The West Region manifested it’s interest and ability to support football this Sunday by cheering Fovu of Baham to a historic 2-0 win against PWD of Bamenda in the final of the 2023 Cup of Cameroon.

A good number of fans all the way from the west region occupied a huge portion of the stands chanting praises to their flag bearers-Fovu of Baham who just 10 minutes in to the game, were leading 1-0.

On an average scale, Fans of the Abakwa boys outweighed that of Fovu. The flags, Jerseys, placards, body paints amongst others with the colors blue and white, were seen almost all over the stadium.

Beautiful display of cultural dances from the grass field regions and other parts of the country were witnessed before the kickoff of this grand finale done by the the Minister of Sports and Physical education, Prof Narcisse Mouelle Kombi. He was accompanied by Cameroon’s football federation president, Samuel Eto’o Fils.

The final encounter was equally staged in the presence of the representative of the head of state in the person of the Prime Minister head of government, Chief Dr.Joseph Dion Ngute.

Fovu of Baham made the atmosphere even more enticing and a moment of jubilation for their fans when Stephane Ikpeme made it 2-0 at the 63rd minute.

Until the referee’s final blast, the fans from the West region of the country were on their feet cheering the boys who responded so well from the start of this final encounter, proving superiority over PWD of Bamenda.

This will definitely be a night of continuous celebration for team Fovu, but a longer night for the Abakwa boys’ side.

Fovu headed by experienced tactitian, Emmanuel Ndumbe Bosso, have been crowned champions of the 2023 Cameroon Cup competition, their third title after grabbing it in 2001 and 2010.

It is fair to say, The West region cheered Fovu of Baham to Victory!
