Cameroon books appointment with history at World Massage Championship

Cameroon will become the first African nation to participate at the world massage championship when the event gets underway later this month.

This comes after 14 Cameroonians were retained by the International Massage Association (IMA) as participants for the event.

This edition of the competition aimed at increase the quality of massage in a respectable and competitive environment, make positive contributions to the training and increase of qualified massage therapists in terms of professional and ethical values will run from April 19 to 30th.

The event in Turkey will help set up an easy and applicable framework to develop the profession and gain competitive power for the members of the profession in all types of massage.

World Massage Federation (WMF) hopes to enable participants to learn, discover, experience and develop the latest developments, innovations and trends in professional knowledge and techniques and reach the top of their careers through these championships.

“Through the competition, we aim to improve the image of the massage profession in society and the professionals’ perspectives towards the massage profession and contribute to creating a conscious community,” the institution stated on their official website.

Besides competing to win medals, the Cameroonians to participate in the event will certainly get experience and knowledge for home consumption when they return home after the championship.

How competition works

WMF massage competitions are held in groups of six to eight contestants to compete for 30 minutes. From each group, one to three contestants are selected to continue to the next round and in the end, the top three receive a medal.
