  • Frank Magri scored his third goal in eight appearances for Toulouse on Sunday
  • He will head to the national team camp in full confidence
  • Magri recently opted to play for Cameroon aged 23

Potential indomitable Lions of Cameroon and Toulouse forward, Frank Magri scored his third goal of the season to secure a point for Toulouse FC away to high-flying Brest on Sunday.

His early goal at the Stade Francis-Le Blé could have been if not of a late goal from Morgan Sotriano who scored in additional time to earn a point for the home side.

The build up to the game was tailor-made for Magri as he received a first call up to the Cameroon national football team days after scoring his second goal of the season.

The former Bastia forward only took 21 minutes to add to his goal tally this season. Magri bundled home a low cross in the Brest box to make it 1-0, rewarding the visitors of their effort at the start of the game.

Toulouse fresh from their midweek win in Continental competition held the advantage and pushed for more throughout the rest of the first segment.

Brest improved after the interval but struggled in the final third most often than not.

It took until additional time for Sotriano to score the equalizer send the home crowd into total celebrations as if it was the winner.

The game ended on the 1-1 score as Magri immediately left to join the indomitable Lions camp for the first time in his career, having scored three goals in eight league games this season.

Song is yet to settle on his final squad for the AFCON, which opens the doors for Magri or any newcomer that can offer a little more than what the present crop of players have.

The uncapped Magri already appears to have a strong chance of being involved at the AFCON – an opportunity that will only be bolstered by Toulouse boss Carles Martinez Cavell by offering him game time even after the upcoming FIFA window.

Magri was born in Angan in France by a Cameroonian mother and of a French father, which provides him the latitude to represent either national teams. He has settled for his mother’s country of origin.
