The wait for amateur clubs in the North West Regional football league to begin enjoying the ‘luxury’ of the regional league will have to continue.
According to a communique from FECAFOOT North West signed by its Secretary General Ndi Tsembom Elvis, the North West Regional Football League will not begin on Saturday, April 22, 2023, as initially announced.
According to the communique, the reason for the postponement is due to the fact that a good number of clubs have incomplete administrative documents that has rendered the licensing of players difficult.
In the letter, the SG reassured the football family of the resolve of FECAFOOT North West to regularize the situation and ensure that the league begins without delay.
The clubs will have to continue shouldering the burden of paying training bonuses for players and coaches while waiting for a new date to be announced.
The announcement of the initial kickoff date came as a relief to these clubs but the new development will keep them in confusion.
Kick442.com had earlier reported that the over-centralization of powers at the level of Yaounde is the main problem responsible for the delay. We gathered from a club official that Yaounde will have to validate and print licenses before sending them to Bamenda.
Also, kick442.com has gathered that some clubs have failed to submit their administrative documents at the National office and this accounts for the delay.
It was on Friday, March 30, 2023, that the FIFA Connect account of clubs was opened by the National office.
Players and coaches will continue to train while waiting for a new date.
Regional leagues have already started in the Centre, South, South West, West, and Littoral regions.
What have these regions done to get their licenses validated and printed that others are not doing?
