Cameroon’s number one sports man, His Excellence President Paul Biya, in a presidential decree inked on November 21,knights Francis Ngannou and Joel Embiid to the ranks of National Commander of Valour.

The recognition comes up following the brilliant performances from both renowned sports men on the international scene which projected the image of Cameroon to higher heights at the international level.

With the most recent being that of Francis Ngannou aka ” the Predator’s” heavy blows on the British puncher Tyson Fury in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in October. An encountered that saw about two thousands persons watch across the globe. And World figures present at the fight venue to witness the controversial victory of the British boxer.

29-year-old and 2.1 metre Joel Embiid is a six-time NBA All-Star, a five-time member of the All-NBA Team and a three-time member of the All-Defensive Team.

Embiid’s latest achievement was his nomination as the NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 2023.

Apart from recognizing outstanding sports men, the Head of State also acknowledged the works of University figures like ,Professor Olivette Otele, Professor specialized in Colonial History at the Bristol University.

As well as Doctor John N. Nkengasong, Coordinator of the Malaria Control and Disease Prevention Unit, for his enormous efforts in combatting the number one killer disease.
