Arnaud Fokam scored a brace on Thursday at the Bamendzi stadium in Bafoussam to help Aigle Royal of Moungo to an important 2-1 win against TKC in match day two of the 2023/24 MTN Elite One championship playoffs, kick442.com can report.

Luc Bide’s tenth goal of the season for TKC ended up being only a consolation as Aigle Royal staged a much improved performance from the last outing which they crashed 2-0 against Panthere of Nde.

Though Cisse Bello didn’t score for the Nkongsamba outfit, he was the main architect of the win as he provided the assist for Fokam’s goal and won the penalty for the winner.

In their quest to remain in contention for promotion and given their contrasting start to the playoffs, both sides threw everything at each other from kickoff but couldn’t find the breakthrough goal.

The game reminded balanced till the interval with Aigle Royal guilty of missing the best chances while TKC could simply count their stars.

Fokam found the breakthrough for Aigle barely four minutes upon resumption. A well-placed pass from Bello met his fellow forward just on the shoulder of the last defender and he made TKC to pay.

Unfortunately for Aigle Royal, the lead only lasted six minutes before regular scorer Bide leveled matters for TKC to set to the stage for a pulsating last third of the game.

Aigle won and missed a 66th minute penalty but Fokam was on hand to gather home the ball pushed into his path by the TKC keeper to complete his double and take his tally for the season to ten goals.

The game was played at a frantic pace – especially in the last 20 minutes, but there wasn’t much to show for the efforts of both clubs as Aigle Royal held on to secure the massive three points.

Aigle Royal counts three points going into their next game against Bafmeng United FC while TKC will be up against the high-flying Panthere of Nde on Monday.
