Cameroon international André Onana is on the verge of returning to Turkish side Trabzonspor after the club reached a verbal agreement with Manchester United for a new loan deal running until June 2027.

Reports indicate that Onana has already accepted the move, with Trabzonspor prepared to pay a loan fee as negotiations enter their final stages. The agreement comes after a successful loan spell in Turkey during the 2025/26 campaign and follows Manchester United’s decision not to include the Cameroonian shot-stopper in their plans for next season.

The 30-year-old enjoyed a resurgence at Trabzonspor last season, rebuilding his reputation after a difficult period at Old Trafford. He made 29 Süper Lig appearances, kept six clean sheets and helped the club finish third in the league. Onana also played a key role in Trabzonspor’s Turkish Cup triumph, starting in the 2-1 final victory over Konyaspor.

Having rediscovered his confidence in Turkey, Onana quickly became a fan favourite despite a shaky debut. His performances convinced Trabzonspor’s hierarchy to push for another season-long stay, while Manchester United continue their goalkeeping reshuffle ahead of the new campaign.

For Cameroon fans, the move offers encouraging signs ahead of future international assignments, with Onana expected to remain a key figure for the Indomitable Lions as he seeks to build on an impressive season in the Turkish Super Lig.
