  • Éclair of Sa’a have moved up to the third spot in the Guinness Super League behind FC Ebolowa and Lekie Filles following their 3-0 triumph against relegation-threatened Eding Sport
  • Former Boston Filles forward Alexandre Nke scored a brace to set the tone for the 3-0 win in the advanced match day 20 contest
  • Authentic Ladies FC could recover the third spot if they get the better of Ita Mbong of Nkambe this Saturday in their match day 20 task at the Bonamoussadi stadium.

Éclair of Sa’a emerged 3-0 winners against relegation-threatened Eding Sport Filles on Friday in an advanced match day 20 contest of the 2023/24 Guinness Super League courtesy a brace from Alexandre Nke and a Marie Ngo Ndjeng Marie goal.

The win made it a double for last season’s vice champions against their city rival who they were 1-0 winners against in the reversed fixture in December last year.

First-half goals from Ngo and Nke ensured Éclair took a comfortable 2-0 advantage to the pause before resuming to score the third just two minutes in to ensure all three points remain with the girls of coach Francis Koloko after a 12th success in this campaign.

Eding had only registered four wins this season going into the tall order against Éclair buoyed by the fact that a win could take above Authentic Ladies FC and put them into third spot at least for 24 hours, before the fixtures of Saturday.

Éclair took control of affairs from the opening moments and were rewarded when Ngo found the back of the Eding Sport net after 15 minutes. It was 2-0 before the hosts could catch their breath in the 23rd minute. Nke completed her brace two minutes upon return from the pause to make it 3-0 which was enough for Éclair to hold onto and earn all points on offer.

Heutchou Ernestine remains Éclair’s lead score this season with nine goals after 17 appearances.

Though Eding had a few moments of their own and Éclair could have improved on their goal difference if they were more clinical, the score remained unchanged till full-time. The 3-0 victory takes Éclair’s points tally up to 38, two points better than Authentic who could regain the third spot with a win against Ita Mbong in a tricky lunch time fixture this Saturday at the Bonamoussadi stadium in Douala. The rest of the clashes counting for match day 20 will be played across the country on Saturday, April 26. Title chasing FC Ebolowa confronts in form Caiman Filles while holders Lekie Filles are at home to multiple winners Louves Minprof.
