Isle of Hope Sports Academy (ISOHSA) have completed a move to sign Akono Mendo David from the Center Regional side AS Futuro of Mfou.

The teenage Cameroon international, who turned 17 earlier this year, will head to Limbe in the new season as part of the new Elite 2 squad.

The striker was his club’s top scorer last season and has been a regular in the past two campaigns.

“WELCOME HOME AKONO !!!

Glad to announce the signing of Akono Mendo David (17) who joins our team from AS Futuro in the centre Regional championship. The center forward was top scorer at AS Futuro last season with 13goals,” the Southwest Regional League champions said in a statement.

Akono will offer ISOHSA a fresh attacking option, adding to the squad that scored 44 goals in 24 games last season.

ISOHSA first made contact with the player last season but the deal didn’t happen. They have finally secured their man this time around.

Akono will join a number of teenagers in the very young squad composed by the club’s management in the past two seasons.

He will meet the rest of the squad when preparations for the new season begins later this August.
