The president of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) Tonobok Okowa has been elected the President of African Athletics Region two, West Africa.
He won the seat following an election that was held in Accra, Ghana, on Saturday.
He defeated his Benin Republic opponent Vierin De Gon by nine to six votes.
In the first round, the AFN President had tied with DeGon of the Benin Republic, Togo’s Tchanile Salifuo Falilatou, and Oually Sara of Senegal.
The victory earned him the position of Vice President of, the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA).
