Nigeria forward, Victor Osimhen is a doubt for the Super Eagles’ crucial semi-final clash with South Africa on Wednesday.
In an official statement released on Monday, the Napoli striker will not travel with the team to Bouake, the venue of the last four encounter.
Instead, he will stay in Abidjan for medical assessment.
“We will fly from Abidjan to Bouaké today via a 10 pm Air Cote D’Ivoire flight,” the statement read.
“Victor Osimhen will not join us on this trip as a result of abdominal discomfort.
“Team medics confirmed that he has been placed under close watch with a member of the medical team staying behind in Abidjan with him.
“If cleared by tomorrow morning, he will join the rest of the squad before 5 pm.”
With a goal and an assist after five games at AFCON 2023, the reigning African player of the year is a key threat up front for the three-time African champions.
Missing the semi-final match might be a big blow for the West African side as Jose Peseiro’s side attempt to claim their fourth title.
