Nigeria’s senior men’s national team edged their counterparts from Angola 1-0 to make it to another semi final at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.

Ademola Lookman’s 41st minute goal separated both sides after 90 minutes.

The Sable Antelopes had the first chance of the match in the fifth minute. Mabululu won himself just enough space to meet a corner and shoots. The goalkeeper made a comfortable save as the ball went into the middle of a goal.

With four minute before the end of the first period, the Super Eagles broke the deadlock.

Moses Simon provided Ademola Lookman with a nice pass inside the box. It allowed him to finish with a precise effort under the bar.

The Southern African side ought to have equalised in the 59th minute. A great pass put Zini clear inside the box, he sidestepped the keeper but inexplicably hits his shot against the right post.

Osimhen’s header in the 75th minute hit the back of the net but the goal was ruled out for an offside.

Peseiro’s side hold on to win the battle of the two Portuguese coaches and will meet either Cape Verde or South Africa in the semi final.
