Tiwa Lys Fraîche Melong has traded the familiar surroundings of Cameroon’s Guinness Super League for the challenge of Spanish football after completing her move to Costa Adeje Tenerife.
The 18-year-old forward has joined the Liga F side from Lekié FF, bringing to Spain a reputation built on goals, trophies and a rapid rise through Cameroon’s women’s football system.
Tiwa’s arrival in Tenerife is the latest step in a career that has developed at remarkable speed. The forward has spent the past two seasons establishing herself as the most prolific scorer in Cameroon’s top flight, winning the Guinness Super League Golden Boot in both campaigns.
Her breakthrough season produced numbers that stood out even in a league known for producing talented forwards. Tiwa scored 22 goals for Lekié FF in the 2024-25 season, including a hat-trick against Cyclone in the final league game that helped secure the championship and the Golden Boot. She also provided three assists in 19 league appearances.
The 22-goal haul was particularly significant. It became the highest individual scoring total recorded by a Guinness Super League top scorer at the time, underlining just how quickly the teenager had moved from promising prospect to one of the competition’s leading attackers.
Her goalscoring form was not limited to the league. Tiwa scored twice in the Women’s Super Cup and continued to make her presence felt whenever Lekié needed a decisive contribution.
There was another indication of her growing importance in February 2026. After being left out of Cameroon’s Under-20 squad for a crucial World Cup qualifier, Tiwa responded on the pitch by scoring a hat-trick as Lekié defeated Authentic FC 5-1 in the opening game of the 2025-26 Guinness Super League season. That performance earned her the Woman of the Match award.
It was a fitting response from a player who had already become accustomed to carrying expectations.
Tiwa was captain and leading scorer of Cameroon’s Under-17 side at the 2025 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco. Her inclusion in the squad reflected the importance placed on her development, with the young forward expected to lead the attack at the global tournament.
Her international experience has helped accelerate a journey that began in Cameroon’s domestic game. At Lekié, she developed into a forward capable of producing goals consistently while competing for major domestic honours.
That progression has now earned her a move to Europe.
Costa Adeje Tenerife confirmed Tiwa as one of their additions for the 2026-27 season, describing the Cameroonian as one of the young players with significant potential in her country. She becomes part of a squad competing in Spain’s top division, giving her the opportunity to test herself against a considerably different level of opposition.
The move also places Tiwa in a different football culture at a crucial stage of her development.
At 18, she is still at the beginning of her senior career, but the numbers she has produced in Cameroon suggest a player already comfortable with responsibility in front of goal.
Her challenge in Spain will be different. She will have to adapt to the pace and tactical demands of Liga F, compete for playing time and adjust to life away from home while continuing her development.
But Tiwa leaves Cameroon with a strong foundation.
She leaves as a two-time Guinness Super League Golden Boot winner, a champion with Lekié FF, a former Cameroon Women’s Ballon d’Or recipient and a player who has already represented her country at a FIFA Women’s World Cup youth tournament.
Now, the teenager from Cameroon has a new stage on which to prove herself.
The goals that made Tiwa Lys Fraîche Melong one of the most talked-about young forwards in Cameroon have taken her to Spain. The next chapter will show whether they can make her a name to watch in European women’s football.
