Cameroon’s hopes of reaching the 2026 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations came to an end on Monday after a heavy 7–1 defeat to Angola in the second-round return leg played in Angola.
The Indomitable Lions arrived needing an unlikely comeback after a difficult first leg, but the hosts once again proved far superior, taking control of the game from the opening stages.
Angola imposed a high tempo and constant attacking pressure, leaving the Cameroonian defence struggling to cope. The Palancas Negras found the net repeatedly as they tightened their grip on the tie and erased any remaining suspense.
Cameroon managed a consolation goal, but it did little to alter the overall outcome as Angola cruised to a commanding aggregate victory.
The result confirmed Angola’s qualification for the Futsal AFCON Morocco 2026 with a dominant 19–1 score over the two legs, while Cameroon exit the race at the second round.
Cameroon were led by coach Louis René Épée, whose side could not match the experience and efficiency of the Angolan team across the two fixtures.
The heavy defeat underlines the work still required for Cameroon to close the gap with the continent’s established futsal nations.
