From Nigeria Gamble to Homecoming? Jude Enow’s Move to Colombe Faces Twist

What was once billed as a bold pathway to Europe has instead brought Jude Enow back to Cameroon or so it seemed. The 17-year-old midfielder, who left Victoria United for Nigeria’s third-division side FC Grassrunners, was announced as having signed a two-year deal with Colombe du Dja et Lobo, Cameroon’s reigning champions preparing for the CAF Champions League.

Enow’s switch to Nigeria earlier this year was seen as an unusual gamble. Having just been named Revelation of the Season at the 2024 Cameroon Ballon d’Or awards, many expected his next step to take him upward. Instead, he dropped from one of Cameroon’s elite clubs to an unheralded third-tier team in Nigeria, hoping to use the move as a gateway to Europe.

The adventure proved short-lived, and his return home was celebrated as a chance to shine in the CAF Champions League and strengthen Colombe’s domestic dominance. At just 17, playing on Africa’s biggest club stage looked like the perfect opportunity for Enow to showcase his talent to scouts across the continent and beyond.

But in a dramatic twist, Victoria United released an official communiqué insisting that Enow is still under a valid and binding contract with them. The club stressed that it has not entered into any transfer agreement or negotiations with Colombe or any other side regarding the player.

This revelation throws the teenager’s supposed move into serious doubt. If Victoria United’s claims stand, Colombe’s announcement may face legal or regulatory hurdles, and the young midfielder could find himself at the heart of one of Cameroon’s biggest transfer sagas in recent memory.

For now, the football community waits to see whether Enow’s homecoming will truly materialize, or if contractual battles will overshadow the next chapter of his promising career.
