Last season’s Cameroon champions and winners of the national challenge cup, Colombe of Dja and the cup runners-up Aigle Royal of Menoua will represent Cameroon in the primary and secondary CAF interclub competitions for the coming season.

This was confirmed on Tuesday, July 29 when our reporter spotted a document carrying the names of most of the clubs to enter the preliminary round draw on August 12.

The confirmation of Colombe as Cameroon’s flag bearer in the Champions League means the competition will soon register another newcomer as Colombe has never participated in any CAF organized event.

Though Aigle lost the Cup of Cameroon final, they sneaked into the CAF Confederation by virtue of the fact that they played the final against the winner of the domestic cup that was already listed for the Champions League and can’t participate in two CAF Competitions in the same season.

For Aigle, it is a return to the continental scene as they previously played in the Confederation cup back in 2008.

Fans of Aigle and Colombe will thus have their eyes fully focused on Dar Es Salaam on August 12 when CAF on the sidelines of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) conducts the draw in the presence of Club representatives.

Just like the case of other lowly-ranked teams, the Cameroonian clubs will go through two rounds of four matches to make it to the group stage of the competition.

All Cameroonian clubs that entered the preliminaries in the previous two editions were booted out even before they could kick a ball.

Cameroonians are expecting a better display from the latest representatives so as to have a club in the group stage again for the first time since Cotonsport back in 2022.
