German club VfB Stuttgart is reportedly interested in signing Christopher Wooh, who is currently playing for Stade Rennais in France.
The 22 year old joined Rennes in 2022 with high expectations, but his playing time has been limited under new coach Jorge sampaoli Where Wooh lost his starting place and seems to be excluded from the Argentinian coach’s plans.
Despite his struggles at the club level, Wooh remains a promising talent in African football, with 16 caps and 2 goals for Cameroon’s national team.
Rennes’ sporting director, Frederic Massara, is looking to shake up the team’s defense, which has been struggling with consistency. Massara wants to bring in more experienced players to stabilize the backline, which could lead to Wooh’s departure.
Stuttgart, meanwhile, is seeking to bolster its defense with talented young players like Wooh. The German club believes Wooh’s physicality, versatility, and international experience makes him suitable for the club.
If the transfer goes through, Wooh would have the opportunity to revive his career in a competitive league like the Bundesliga. Stuttgart, on the other hand, would gain a promising young player like the Cameroonian international.
While negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing, no official announcement has been made. However, with Wooh eager to find regular playing time and Stuttgart looking to strengthen its defense, a deal could be struck soon.
