  • Sheriff Tiraspol will be hoping to overturn the first-leg deficit though they are playing away in Baku
  • Early reports have it that Jerome Ngombekeli is in contention for a starting berth in the second-leg game

Sheriff Tiraspol of Cameroon international, Jerome Ngombekeli could be eliminated from the 2023/24 UEFA Europa League tonight in Azerbaijan.

The Moldovan giants are faced with the tough task of turning the tights around this Thursday when they clash with Zira in the return-leg match of this season’s UEFA Europa League preliminaries.

Georgian forward Davit Volkovi is the difference between both sides heading into the second-leg game as his solo strike last week in Moldova has put the tie in a pulsating situation, though there is a greater probability of Sheriff’s run in the competition ending prematurely tonight.

Sheriff Tiraspol, one-time conquerors of record European champions, Real Madrid will be hoping their visit to the Dalga Araina will be hoping to have a good day in Baku though it’s not promising given Zira’s frightening home record.

Ngombekeli who came on for the final ten minutes in the reverse fixture will be hoping to get more minutes from coach Yuriy Gura so as to contribute to the success of his club in the competition they have reached the business end in the past few years.

The 5pm kick-off in Azerbaijan Republic will be one of the standout fixtures in the competition this Thursday, June 18 evening.
