Former Cameroonian rapper Steve Etogo, popularly known as ‘One Love’, has taken on a new role as the head coach of the U18 team at ES Viry-Châtillon, a regional football club based in Viry-Châtillon, Paris.
The club has welcomed the “ghetto wants Gnama” maker to its club this June after it launched an open call for trainers back in march.
ES Viry-Châtillon competes in Regional 1, which is a significant tier in the Île-de-France league system. Their home matches are held at the Stade Henri Longuet, with a capacity of 5,700 spectators.
The club has an intriguing history. It was founded in 1958 through the merger of two local sides: L’Union Sportive de Viry (which existed between 1932 and 1958) and FC Viry (1952–58).
Despite facing administrative relegation in 2018 due to financial difficulties, ES Viry-Châtillon remains a vital part of the football landscape in the region.
Etogo’s transition from the music scene to coaching is noteworthy.
Born on December 13 in Yaoundé, he gained fame in the Cameroon music scene in 2003 by winning the Mutzig national song competition.
Now, with four albums under his belt and several awards, the “Ondoa, you are good” crooner is ready to make his mark on the pitch as a football coach.
