As the conflict between the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) and the Ministry of Sports continues to escalate, the government of Cameroon has taken a decisive step by closing its doors to all FECAFOOT events.
Kick442 has obtained exclusive information that state-owned stadiums will not be made available to the federation until further notice.
The upcoming World Cup qualifiers, originally scheduled to take place at the Omnisport Stadium, are at risk. This uncertainty arises from the federation’s insistence on contesting government-appointed technical staff
To circumvent the stadium restrictions, FECAFOOT has opted for alternative venues. Cup of Cameroon games are now being played at the Caf Technical Center, CAF Excellence Center, Bertoua Municipal Stadium, and Melong Municipal Stadium.
Regional league games are also affected, with matches now being played in privately owned playgrounds. Recently, the Adamaoua league faced a halt due to the divisional delegate of sports preventing games from being played in state-owned facilities.
Interestingly, the Southwest Regional League remains an exception. Clubs in this league pay to use state-owned stadiums, allowing them to continue playing.
While the duration of this situation remains uncertain, it has dampened enthusiasm for the competition. The proximity of state-owned stadiums to the population makes their closure particularly impactful.
