Fortress Ladies goalkeeper, Obadan Imade played a pivotal role in lifting her side to a third-place finish at the recently concluded Ifeanyi Chiejine Memorial Cup (ICMC) in Asaba, Delta state capital.

The young goalie was introduced in the quarter-final match against Awka Angels as penalties beckoned and she rewarded her coach for trusting in her.

Obadan saved a penalty and the deciding one was played over the bar after she guessed most of the penalties against her rightly.

“It’s not like I was a penalty specialist but God’s grace,” Obadan told kick442.com

“During the penalties, I saw the eyes of the players to know the direction the ball was going to but I didn’t follow up the initial kicks.”

Amazingly her role model isn’t a goalkeeper as she hopes to become a professional footballer when she gets the chance from second-tier NWFL Championship side.

“My role model is not actually a goalkeeper. He is Cristiano Ronaldo.” She continued.

“For goalkeepers, I will go for Andre Onana. He is trying and doing his best for his team.

“Playing rugby and football but football is my career because I’ve always dreamed of being a footballer.

“I want to travel abroad to play professional football in the future
So I can help my family, and the poor and needy people around me.

“I want to become a great woman in life”

The Sapele, Delta state-born save hands is also hoping to mix education with her foot all career while taking us through her family background.

“I lost my dad when I was 3 years old.
My mom is a petty trader.
We are seven in number plus my mom 8 (6 girls and a boy).

“I’m done with secondary school. I wrote JAMB and Post UTME this year and have been given admission to study “Estate Management” in the University of Benin (Uniben).” She concluded.
