French Ligue 2 side FC Girondins de Bordeaux have unveiled experienced Cameroonian midfielder, Dimitri Manyim roped in from eternal Cameroonian producer EFBC of Douala.
The 18-year-old creative midfielder was presented to the media this Tuesday after the 2008/09 French Ligue 1 winners completed formalities for his acquisition and registered him.
Manyim ignored a number of offers from clubs across Europe to settle for a three-year deal with the Navy and Whites.
Manyim spent six years at EFBC, where he formed part of the generation with Carlos Baleba of Brighton and Hove, Mughe Francois Regis of Olympique Marseille, Aboubakar Nagida of Rennes plus Dijon duo Jean Pierre Nkamga and Mohamed Dalbai.
He traveled to France over a fortnight ago to begin his adaptation process, which has been so far so good.
Though he is admired by coach Albert Riera, Manyim has started life with the Reserves on recommendation of the former Liverpool defender. He enjoyed his first minutes with Bordeaux’s U-19 team in a within-season friendly on Monday.
Manyim was a part of Cameroon’s 2021 generation U-17 team assembled by coach Anicet Mbarga Foe with the likes of Wassou Goue Patient, Jean Eric Moursou of Cotonsport as well as APEJES of Mfou quartet of Tekeu Parfait, Noh Nafeng Yvan, Ambassa Messobo and Simo Gideon.
He has progressed through to the U-23 national selection but was drafted into the U-20 Cameroon team that won UNIFFAC zonal tournament two months ago under the guidance of coach Yvan Kanwoe.
He has become the second Cameroonian on the books of the six-time French Ligue 1 champions.
