The race for the 2023 Union of Football Federation of Central Africa (UNIFFAC) CAF women’s Champions League (CAFWCL) Golden Boot crown is heading for a final crescendo today with TP Mazembe duo Dikisha Esther, Priscille Kreto Lagoali and Elena Obono of Huracanes FC with two goals.
DR Congo international Dikisha and Lagoali scored a goal each in their club’s two games in the competition against Huracanes FC in the opening day and against Epah Ngamba in the second outing to tie up with Elena who scored twice in the opening 3-2 win against Mazembe.
The three scorers in the five-goal goal thriller last Friday are presently leading the chat and one could win the golden boot depending on the performances in this Thursday’s game at the Estadio Nacional de Malabo.
Just a game is left in the competition and it involves Elena, giving her a window of opportunity to take advantage.
Elena, who notched her first and second goals of the competition in the 3-2 win over Mazembe last weekend, knows just one more will see her become the top scorer of the zonal tournament.
The Huracanes striker has established herself as one of the hottest talents in the competition this season, helping the hosts in their quest to become the second Equatorial Guinean side to win the competition.
Here’s a closer look at those in the running:
The 23-year-old averages two goals per game in competition and is the bookies’ favourite to win the Golden Boot.
The Equatorial Guinea international registered four shots on target during her first outing in the competition and was arguably the player of the game.
Lagoali Kreto
Kreto, the Elena and Dikisha hitman has found the net on two different occasions in this edition of the competition, averaging a goal every 90 minutes.
The 26-year-old Ivorian forward has had an impressive tournament on a personal note as coach Boumedhi Lamia’s team won one of their two games.
Dikisha Esther
Dikisha in her second season in the competition has scored two goals for TP Mazembe as they battle to defend the title she helped them win last year in Malabo.
The 24-year-old DR Congo forward has registered the most shots on target (7) in the competition and scored 50% of her club’s goals in the competition.
