Saudi Arabian side, Ahba club has secured the services of indomitable Lion of Cameroon’s striker, Karl Toko Ekambi on a two-year-deal from Olympique of Lyonnaise.
Unwanted at Lyon, the 30-year-old has found a new home, where he was unveiled this Thursday, August 24 after the completion of all the necessary transfer formalities.
After spells in Spain and France with Lyon where he scored 38 goals in 114 games played for three seasons spent there, Ekambi will now try his third international challenge.
Ekambi who spent last season at Stade Rennais on loan from Lyon, commits to Ahba Club on a deal worth €1.5m plus €500,000 as bonuses.
His transfer to Saudi Arabia puts an end to a complicated time spent lately at Lyon. This definitely free him from the rejection an acts of racism from the French fans who wanted him out of Lyon.
Ekambi joins a host of big names who now ply their trade in Saudi Arabia and he would start anew with fellow compatriot, Devis Epassy at Ahba Club FC.
The Saudi pro league club currently seats 10th on the league table with a win and a loss from two games played so far this football season.
Ekambi’s first debut with new club may be against Leandre Tawamba’s Al-Taawoun on Friday, August 25 in day three of the league.
