Cameroon International, Benjamin Elliot Njongoue, has joined Reading FC on a permanent transfer deal, for three-years from Chelsea Football club.
The 20-year-old midfielder was unveiled this Tuesday, by the third tier club who participate in the English football league.
Benjamin made four appearances for Chelsea’s under-21 side in the EFL Trophy last season and scored one goal.
The highly rated midfielder represented Chelsea only at youth levels, where he’s spent his years so far building his career since the age of eight.
Thought the lad was down with an injury that ruled him out for a while, he bounced back and regained form last season, scoring four goals plus six assists in 26 appearances in all competitions.
This earned him a call up to the Cameroon Senior National team where he made his debut in an international friendly against Mexico.
His performances equally saw him travel with Chelsea’s senior team to Abu Dhabi in December last year ahead of the return of the premier league halted following the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Benjamin has been one of Chelsea’s brightest youngsters so far who have won the admiration of football lovers, that even reading considered getting him on loan in January but have now patiently waited and gotten him on a permanent deal for three seasons.
Reading finished 22nd of 24 teams in the EFL championship last season, causing their relegation to third division. As it stands, they seat 16th on the league table with losses and a win from three games this 2023/24 football season.
