The quarter-final of the cup of Cameroon is set for Sunday June 9 in Yaounde (CAF excellence center Mbankomo and the CAF technical center Odza) and in Melong (Melong municipal stadium )
These games which will decide the final four in this competition promises to be a cracker looking at the different teams progress in this edition.
Canon Yaoundé VS ISOHSA (Melong Municipal Stadium -3pm)
11 time winners of the cup of Cameroon Canon sportive stands the chance of making it to the semi finals of the cup of Cameroon, but they will have to go through Isle of hope Academy of Limbe.
Record winners of this cup , the Kpakum boys are once again at the stage where they left last edition the quarter finals with a win enough to secure them a place in the semi finals.
Canon has metamorphosed to a better and more competitive team after their failed attempts in the Playoff-up, they are one of the two teams still in competition to not have conceded a goal. They started off defeating Talented FA by 5-0, they saw Academies indomptable by 2-0 capping it with a 1-0 win over tarzan of Obala.
One will argue that this side is yet to receive a tough opponent in this round since its last three opponents are all regional sides, but their palmares itself tells u not to joke with the center regional outfit.
Isle of Hope Sports Academy (ISOHSA) has walked a tough path to this point, from a three win over legend football academy, to beating Unisport by 1-0. The veritable challenges came against past winners Stade Renard , but the team solved that equation on a 2-1 scoreline. Both sides are meeting for the first time in any competition. A win will be a worthy celebration for both.
Colombe Sportif Vs Panthere Sportif (CAF Excellence Center Mbankomo -3pm)
A power clash awaits fans of football between Colombe sportive and Panther sportive. Both sides will log horns in the quarter finals of the cup of Cameroon .
This season of the cup of Cameroon hasn’t seen any more consistent and better performing team like Colombe sportive. The side not only holds the joint record of the most clean sheets but has also scored nine goals in the process . Three each against its three opponents.
The south doves opened their winning counter against Eding , thrashing them by 3-0, saw off Avion Academy by the same scoreline before having their pound of flesh against title holder Fovu on the same scoreline. Fovu had defeated the south doves in the semi finals of last edition in a highly contested and controversial match on post match penalties.
Defeating Fovu must have been an individual ambition but more so winning the title is important.
They go against one of the best second tier teams in the just ended elite two season Panther sportive of Nde. Two time winners of this cup, Panther is promising more than ever before . From a 3-2 win over Sporting of Maroua To a 1-0 win AS Dibamba and Riziere , the west regional side just like the remaining seven has paid her dues. It’s left to see how they performance against a more experienced Colombe side .
AS Fortuna vs Mintack FC (CAF Technical Center Odza-3:30pm
Elite one side AS fortuna of mfou will log horns with central regional side Mintack Fc in the quarter finals of the cup of Cameroon.
Both sides haven’t won this trophy before, and will be going into this encounter with ambitions to reach the last four why not the final two.
As fortuna has been invisible right from the playoff down where they finished second.
The team announced their presence in this year’s cup of Cameroon with a resounding 8-1 win over Lumiere FC of Dzeng , they went further to boot out one of the favorites Bamboutos of Mbouda by 1-0. Post match penalties separated their zero tie with Botafogo fc in the R16. This south side has scored nine goals , kept two clean sheets conceding just one goal in three outings. They boast a stellar forward lineup led by goal poacher Boris Mfoumou.
Mintack Fc on their path are no push offs. A regional side but not shy from big challenges . The central side defeated elite two champions Aigle of moungo by 2-1, north west regional side Bang bullet felt their wrath as they inflicted them with a 2-0 win. Ciseaux FC managed to score one pass the team in the last day but Mintack got the last laugh with two goals.
Reaching this stage is already an achievement for this side. Their last appearance saw them end at the 16 finals where they lost to Cotonsport . However both teams seem galvanized and determined to make a name for themselves this season.
Aigle Royal of Menoua VS Mbalmayo FC (CAF Technical Center Odza -1:30pm)
The cup of Cameroon is the only thing that can salvage a regrettable season for Aigle royale of the Menoua . Relegated to the second division , El pacha goes into this encounter with hopes to defeat Mbalmayo FC just like the other regional sides it has met on its way to this stage . The team Defeated Girondins on penalties 6-5 after one all draw saw off Epervier by 2-1 and a 4-3 win on penalties over Us Abong Mbang 4-3.
The team recently received indomitable lion player Bryan Mbeumo in its club services , that may be tbe right boost going into this encounter.
Mbalmayo FC is known as the giant slayer, the third divisional side has defeated top teams line Apejes 4-2, three time winners Dynamo by 1 -0 and their recent 4-0 thumping over Astre of Douala further solidified them as a team to watch out for.
