Yong Sports Academy (YOSA) of Bamenda will participate in the 2022/23 MTN Elite One relegation playoff following their one-nil defeat, alongside other results on Saturday in the final round of matches.

The Northwest outfit completely fell short of expectations during their relegation dogfight game at the Reunification stadium as Astres edged it by a scrappy goal in a game that was dull all afternoon.

Ekandjom scored the lone goal from a deflected cross midway into the second segment after Ekoi Manfred had made a number of interventions in search of a clean sheet.

YOSA have themselves to blame for at least not scoring in the game as Njongmu Rudolph and substitute Franck Eric Embe had gilt-edged opportunities but wasted them without even hitting the target.

YOSA struggled to match the expectations of their hundred of fans who left the stadium in total disappointment given results elsewhere.

The one-nil defeat alongside shock wins for Fauve Azur Elite and AS Fortuna pulled YOSA down to the ninth spot on the log.

The ninth-placed finish meant YOSA will be in the Cameroon top-flight championship relegation playoff next month in Douala against the side that finish on the same spot in the other pool.
