Polish Referee Szymon Marciniak who officiated the 2022 FIFA World Cup final game against Argentina and France, will be incharge of the Egyptian premier league clash between Al Ahly and Pyramid FC this Monday, January 2, at 6pm.

This was confirmed by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) on Sunday.

Pyramids FC had earlier requested a foreign referee for the clash and since EFA regulations allows every club to ask for a foreign official on condition that they cover all expenses, their wish was granted.

The big boys have therefore ensured 41-year-old Marciniak will be at the center stage and will be assisted by Polish officials still.

The game counting for Matchday 11 of the league, seems to be a crucial clash that no one would want to take chances especially Pyramids who are 4 points below Al Ahly.

It should be noted that, Pyramids former owner, Turki Al-Sheikh from Saudi Arabia, used to be an honorary chairperson of Al Ahly before cutting ties with the club’s executive over it’s transfer policies and the sold Pyramids out in 2019 after a lot of investment on the club.

Al Ahly sit second on the table with 24 points though level on point with leaders Zamalek SC but differ in goal. Meanwhile, Pyramids are 4th on the table, having won 6 games out of 10, loss two and settled for two draws.

In not more than six months, Syzmon Marcinak visits Egypt again. He took charge of the Egypt cup final game in July 2021 between Al Ahly and Zamalek FC which saw the latter emerged victors in a 2-1 win.
