The Military Lionesses of Cameroon have started off their 14th edition participation of the World Cup on good footing, following a 2-0 win over Belgium. Brenda Tabe doubled after an own goal to seal the win.

The 19-year-old who was highest goal scorer of the last edition in the USA with eight goals, netted the second this afternoon to make Cameroon go top of the table.

Meeting for the second time in a row in the same group, Cameroon whitewashed Belgium 8-0 last year and became the first-ever African side to reach the final.

Just like it were during the last edition, where the girls of coach Josephine Mike Ndoumou were unstoppable and won all 4 group games, scoring a total of 24 goals, and conceding just 1, the team is once again proving its solidity and resilience.

In the other group C game, the USA beat Germany 3-1, to set up the next date with Cameroon on Saturday, July 1. Meanwhile the matchday one losers will face each other.
