Albert Tiku’s parents have issued lifetime blessings to their son who emerged champion of the Southwest Regional championship with Isle of Hope Sports Academy (ISOHSA) of Limbe on Sunday and had an applaudable season.
The teenage former Destiny Restoration playmaker was voted player of the League for the 2022/23 football season and equally Man of the Match in the final encounter after the 1-0 win against Kumba City on Sunday, July 9.
Tiku’s father who was always in the stands to support his son but in the final both parents plus siblings came to support Tiku they had very little faith in when he chose this career path.
“From Nusrery school my son has been playing football and I always restricted him from doing so. I didn’t like it because I wanted him to concentrate on his studies. But my son promised me that he will make me proud and I saw it for myself this day. I am very happy and proud of him,” Mr Ayuk Egbe Albert said.
The same feelings were expressed by Tiku’s mom who considered herself a “Thomas”.
“I can beat my chest to say I’m a proud mother. Tiku has shocked me. I use to forbid anything that linked him to playing football, but he told me he will not disappoint me if I give him the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes even the coaches call me just to beg that I let Tiku play football… God has done his miracle on my child and I bless him this day as his mother. He will keep going higher,” an emotional Mrs Ayuk Rose stated.
On three occasions during the mini Interpools, the lad grabbed the Man of the match award. A clear indication of a consistent passionate footballer he is.
