After its 3-0 loss to host, Ghana in the opening game of the maiden WAFU-B U-20 Girls Cup, Benin Republic bounced back with a 5-2 win over Cote D’ivoire to brighten its chances of making it to the semi-final.

Benin Republic raced to a 2-0 lead thanks to an own goal and Mahugnon Zinsou’s goal in the 29th minute.

After the interval, the Ivorian girls equalised with goals from Essi Dagba and Amenan Ndiri in the 54th and 59th minute respectively.

Milhad Titilola Sadikou restored Benin’s lead in the 64th minute and increased the lead to 4-2 from the penalty spot six minutes later.

Kaddiatou Imorou sealed the win for Benin Republic in the 81st minute.

The final Group A game between Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire will determine the two teams that will make it to the semi-final from the group.

Cote d’Ivoire needs a win while Ghana needs to avoid defeat to top the group which will qualify the host alongside Benin Republic for the semi-final.

A win for Cote d’Ivoire will mean all three teams in the group will have three points with goal difference and possibly Head-to-Head rule determining the two teams that will qualify from the group.
